Acoma Pueblo
Acoma Pueblo has been inhabited since about 1150 A.D., which makes it the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America. The Pueblo sits on top of a 367-foot mesa and is inhabited by the Acoma Tribe. The San Esteban del Rey Mission is also located on the mesa top and was built in 1629 after the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in the area and tried force the Acoma People into submission (it didn’t work). Acoma is a very beautiful and interesting place, with wonderful people and packed with history. Acoma should be on everyone’s bucket list.
