Hovenweep National Monument
Hovenweep is primarily in Utah with a few outlying areas in Colorado. The dwellings are around 800 years old and are held together by mud and the placing of the stones, which is a testament to the builders.
These photos were shot in one day from sunrise to sunset due to Park regulations of being out of the ruins by sunset. A wildfire near Dove Creek added to the warm tones in the images I shot at sunrise. You can see some of the smoke from the fire in a few of my shots. I am fascinated by these old ruins, the stonework, and the placing of the buildings in such beautiful awe inspiring settings. |
