Pacific Northwest 2015
A Change of Plans

These are some shots from my trip the to west Coast last fall. My intent was to spend about ten days in and around Olympic National Park. As you can see the first few day getting there had nice weather, good shots at Fort Stevens State Park in Oregon of Battery Russell and the shipwreck Peter Iredale; even the Astoria-Megler bridge right behind our motel. Then, a couple of days later the morning started out great but while taking pictures at Cape Flattery a storm rolled in. By the time we got back to our campsite most of the visitors had abandoned ship. I found out why the next day while talking to the Ranger who informed me the storm was going to last 4-6 days. I know there are good images to be made in bad weather but I also know my mood is not conducive to creativity if I am trying to stay dry for days on end. The remedy was to move south and get out of the storm. By the time the sky cleared we were in Northern California, back to our old Redwood Haunts. Adversity begets adventure, and in this case a location adjustment (and attitude adjustment) did the trick and “a good time was had by all”. Please enjoy the images and thanks for visiting my site.
